Hey Brodie! I'd be glad to trade notes with you about the press we built. Depending on how much you want to press, it's a very effective and cheap way to do it. Great juice yields per bushel. I'm headed out of town to the CiderConference in Chicago today. By chance, are you planning to go? There's a lot of great panel discussions scheduled regarding the whole cider making process. At any rate, I won't be back till Saturday. We could schedule a phone call any time after this week, to get the conversation going anyway!

Hello Trevor & crew from Noble Cider!
I really hope you had a great pressing season. I am just getting everything started in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to start something very similar and I would love to talk with you guys more about the design of your press and how it worked out for you this past year.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Brodie

Thanks John! We will keep you posted thru the blog and our Facebook page. Right now we are waiting on our NC ABC permit--we can't sell any cider just yet! Once the spring rolls around, we plan to do some organized tastings and food pairings with our cider (and other ciders). We will definitely keep you informed. Thanks for your support!

Team Noble...we are so excited to hear all the progress and successes you are having. Very much looking forward to hearing when you get to put some of your delicious product in a bottle and I get to enjoy along with the rest of world. Great job!

Here's a creative suggestion. Not sure if you are planning to try anything experimental right out of the chute but I recently read how certain hard cidar companies are playing with dry hopping for an interesting twist. Maybe they are using an extra bitter apple? Check it out

This may be sacrilegious but the IPA fan in me is dying to try this. My only chance of getting it here in Florida will be to either make it or convince someone in the southeast to give it a try. Might be a hit.

Hey again Alan! We actually watched your videos before we built our press. Lief actually built the press, so he figured out all the dimensions and whatnot. But, the dual tray is certainly the way to go. The frame is made of 2x4's and plywood, with heavy coats of foodgrade poly-sealer. We've had another request to explain the build out, so we'll work on putting a video together soon!

Hey Alan! We thought this post might be helpful to others with the same grinder. It's good to sharpen your blades regularly as well. Our first blade was slowly bending flat, so we bent them back up----it broke off shortly after! Dangerous! The brace works great.
